Morning Session
Presentation on the initiative from NASP to empower School Psychologists in supporting student mental and behavioral health. Information from NASP will be shared regarding how school psychologists are uniquely qualified to develop comprehensive support systems, provide direct and indirect services, and expand access. Current public policy presents significant opportunities for school psychologists to do what we do best……improve outcomes for students. Come learn how to get through the barriers and help school stakeholders recognize the asset of involving their school psychologists in mental health needs.
Local mental health agencies from within the region will share how their services extend into the school settings. Discussion and collaboration will follow about how we as school psychologists, can effectively collaborate with our local mental health agencies and take on a purposeful role with supporting mental health services for our students.
The NASP created session regarding school psychologists in the role of supporting student mental health needs will be in the morning from 9:00-11:00 a.m. EST. Lunch will be on your own from 11:00-12:00 EST. Then 12:00-3:00 p.m. EST will be the afternoon session with local mental health providers in the region and discussion of how to be involved in mental health services as a school psychologist.
