The recent passage of ESSA has created many opportunities for school psychologists nationwide to provide comprehensive mental, behavioral, and academic services to students. The Multitiered System of Supports (MTTS) paradigm provides a unified model for provision of expanded school psychological services delineated in the NASP Practice Model (2010). This session will help attendees to understand the research and legislative foundations of MTSS, as well a practical methods for implementing MTSS in schools, both in the academic and behavioral realms. The presenters will explore tips and strategies learned from twelve years' experience in successfully implementing RtI for Specific Learning Disability eligibility. Other topics include teaming strategies, intervention selection, problem-solving, data organization, scheduling, and the need to engage in continual improvement efforts for both RtI and PBIS components of a larger MTSS system.
